The Transcendence of duality- What does this mean on one's spiritual path?

Writer: Marcelle MuseMarcelle Muse

Advait Tantra is a distinct school within the large field of Tantra because of its emphasis on the principles of non-duality, oneness, and unity. Its an ancient Indian spiritual tradition that offers profound insights and practices to transcend the illusion of separation and awaken to the inherent unity of all existence. This blog delves into the heart of Advait Tantra, exploring the concept of transcending duality

In Tantra, "transcending duality" is recognizing the presence of both masculine (Shiva) and feminine (Shakti) forces inside oneself and in the world at large and working with them rather than against them.

The harmony of sexual energies symbolizes the coming together of seemingly incompatible concepts like stasis and motion, awareness and energy, void and substance. Tantra is an approach that embraces duality in an effort to realize the underlying unity and totality of life.

Shiva is the masculine principle in Tantra, and he is associated with silence, awareness, and the eternal nature of things. Shiva represents the witness and the very nature of existence because of his pristine awareness and sublime consciousness.

Shakti, on the other hand, is a manifestation of the feminine essence and stands for unbridled creative force, vitality, and metamorphosis. Power, motion, and the creative energy behind everything in the world are all personified in Shakti. She personifies life's dynamic and ever-shifting nature.

To transcend dualism, one must realize that the masculine and feminine energies are not opposites but complementary sides of the same whole. The ultimate purpose of Tantra is to achieve an internal state of balance, harmony, and spiritual illumination by merging and harmonizing these forces.

To fully embrace the balance between masculine and feminine energy, one must develop an in-depth appreciation for both sexes inside themselves. It entails appreciating and valuing the attributes of Shiva, such as calmness, self-awareness, and consciousness, and of Shakti, such as originality, intuition, and chaotic energy.

Power and manifestation arise from the integration of masculine and feminine energy. Shakti is the creative force that materializes our hopes, dreams, and goals into the world. To channel and create this creative force, Shiva, the masculine energy, gives the awareness and guidance required. Individuals can access their latent creative potential and more effectively materialize their desires via the acceptance and balancing of these energies

"Tantra is not technique but prayer. Is not head oriented but a relaxation into the heart. It is a scientific approach! It is alchemy! It can transform your center's, it can transform the other's center's. It can create a rhythm and harmony between you and your beloved. That is the beauty of tantra. It is like bringing electricity into your house" Osho

The yantra utilized for clarity and focus within meditation which is what is taught at Kashaya Tantra Cape Town

“The beauty and wisdom of Tantra is that it enhances sexuality as a doorway to the “ecstatic mind of great bliss”. Truly, at the peak of orgasm, we pierce through the illusion of fragmentation and separation, and glimpse the unity and interconnectedness of all beings. And through the other–our partner–we fall in love with life.”
